Smart Lock Ultra – latch issue after unlock (motor forcing to lock for a few seconds)

Hi everyone,
I recently ran into a strange issue with my Nuki Smart Lock Ultra.

During unlocking, right when the latch was supposed to retract, I heard a kind of squealing/whistling noise from the motor. The latch didn’t return to its normal position, so the door stayed slightly unlatched. I tried to manually move the key but was blocked…after some seconds the key returned to the default position.

To troubleshoot, I already:

  • recalibrated the lock,
  • checked the latch (it’s smooth and moves freely),
  • verified that the door opens/closes without friction or stiffness on the deadbolt.

Everything looks mechanically fine, but this still happened once or two times.
Has anyone else experienced this? Could it be a motor/gear issue rather than calibration or alignment?
My installation on the door seems to be perfect and the cylinder has softly opening…

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Maybe once a week. I hope the next firmware update (beta) fixes this issue.

Thanks Andreas for your kandly support.
Ok your replay sounds good, finger crossed for next fix.
The strange behavior is the hissing noise during the unlatching. I don’t think a firmware can clear this motor behavior.
Anyway i will look forward for next update
Best
Alex

My Nuki Pro 5th generation randomly does the same twice a week. It stays unlatched. Calibrating or locking fixes the issue, but it’s annoying.

After the calibration it happened only one time but very annoying.

As mentioned here (Smart Lock Ultra/Pro/Go Firmware Beta 5.5.x - #22 by Stefan_Reiterer) the current Beta is aiming to resolve the stated issue with the Smart Lock being stuck in the unlatched state.

If you are interested in installing the Beta pease check following info page on how to get enrolled:

Please report the feedback in the appropriate beta channel so it’s collected in one central location.
