Sync Action via MQTT?

Dear,
I am using the Smart Lock Pro (5th gen). A silly question maybe - but how do I sync the lock states here?
Let’s imagine a female member of the family opens the door from the outside using a key.
Nuki does not recognize that the lock is opened, since internal and external side of the lock are not connected.
So the door is opened and closed while the lock thinks it is locked the whole time. When I try to lock it via MQTT, it will not lock, as it thinks that it is already locked.
When I try to unlock it, it opens a “bit” and then gets blocked. After that, the state remains at “locked”.

So - how do I sync it?
I am really quite lost here.

Thank you,
regards

Connor

Nuki is not compatible with cylinders that do not rotate on both sides, when a key is inserted. Your best solution is to change the cylinder.

Alternative options are:

  • Add a door sensor and use this hidden feature
  • Try to use the unlatch/open door function to correct the position.
  • Try to issue a “full lock” command through the Nuki Web API
  • Lock (or unlock) the Smart Lock with the handwheel. Turn to fully locked position or unlocked position.
  • Create a feature request and ask for adding “full lock” or “position run” as command to the MQTT API.

Jürgen,
thank you for your feedback and guiding me into the right direction.

I know and respect that. However I hope to find another way before doing so.

Maybe I am blind - but where do I find the setting for the debug mode - and does it come with other issues?

That’s what I already tried. Unfortunately the smart lock it to smart to be outsmarted by that. When calling this command, the motor blocks, but still remembers that it was locked in beforehand. And it will not change this status.

Would the full lock or the force lock be the right approach here?

I will do so - as I generally like the idea of not having an active internet connection to my door knob.

As said - thank you for your support,
regards

Connor

Just as a feedback from my side. Tested it, using both /smartlock/{smartlockId}/action with action 2, option 2 as well as action 2, option 4 - the ring simply blinked one time, but that’s it.
So putting it together - there seems to be no option to get the lock to do what I want when it thinks it knows better…

Search is your friend. Should work like this: How to enable debug mode on a Nuki Smart Lock or Nuki Opener

I’ve to correct myself. Both options will not solve your problem, because they do not cause the Smart Lock to challenge it’s internal position sensor (as you already found out too)
