URMET 2Voice system

Hi,

My building just changed its door system and installed a URMET 2 voice system, with 1750/6 devices.
I have read that Nuki Opener isn’t compatible and I saw multiple NUKI developers answering on the forums that they were working on compatibility, but these discussion have been lasting since 2019.
I also understand that URMET propagates 48-51V, which causes issues.
I wrote to support, who answered with a very non-committing answer (“we are not offering compatibility and can’t say if we are working on it, please check again in some months”).
So basically:

  • It is worth my waiting for an eventual compatibility or
  • should I switch to another system and abandon Nuki altogether (as it does not make sense to have the door lock from Nuki if I can’t enter the building with Nuki door opener?

Any hint or personal experience with NUKI development pace would be appreciated.
Thanks!

UP! We’re in the same boat!

I am also very unsure whether to wait for a possible compatibility or switch to another solution. I was looking at SwitchBot Lock + Bot (Button Presser) to open the intercom. Now they also addressed the issue that afflicted the Lock for the European doors without the outside handle and now it is working fine…
The only thing that I would regret, would be that with the Switchbot Bot you can only press the open door button and you don’t have any other integrations…

Would be nice to have an official response about this topic.
And the fact that there is no response, either positive or negative, says a lot about the seriousness of this company. The forum is full of people asking for the integration with Urmet 2Voice Intercom… you can find threads dating back to 2019.
I hope for someone’s reply

I also have the same problem with urmet 1750/6 (2voice)

It’s not working and it’s never going to work because Urmet has it’s own smart home intergration availible.

It’s not working and it’s never going to work because Urmet has it’s own smart home intergration available.
In that case it would help a lot if Nuki could just admit this…

For your information, there used to be a feature request in this forum for 2Voice integration, which had some votes, but it has been deleted…
So I created a new one: Opener compatibility with URMET 2Voice system
I would entice every interested party to go and vote for it so that it gets on the list under consideration by Nuki

Today i order my first nuki product, lock 4.0. I wanna take combo with opener, but luckily I went to check the forum if the 1750/6 urmet is supported. because of course I was convinced that there was support. I am really disappointed that there is no progress or an answer from the Nuki team as to why there is no support.

Same issue, with 1750/4.
About to return my lock 4.0 pro, considering that there is no news or sign of progress since 2019…

Today i install Ring with my Urmet. It works perfectly :slightly_smiling_face: … it much cheaper than nuki opener

Hi Ales, thanks for the feedback!
In my understanding, Ring does not solve all my use cases:

  • there is no Auto unlock feature to open the door when approaching
  • one has to ring first before Ring can open: that is waking up anyone sleeping or getting them to the door even though they shouldn’t
  • can’t open to someone if he or she does not ring first
  • does not intercept the ring sound to either reduce it or stop it

I came to these conclusions a few months ago, so maybe I got it wrong or the product evolved?

Thanks again

Hi

  • there is currently no Auto unlock function. However, I noticed that this is the most desired feature that users point out, so maybe something will change. This would also be useful for me, and I bought Nuki for this purpose, but unfortunately I didn’t check before whether Opener supports my intercom.
  • yes, you need to ring the bell to unlock the door. One of the solutions is to turn off the sound on the intercom if you have an echo show or dot at home, because then it rings on them. With them, you can turn on “do not disturb”

In the end, it is true that it is not the same as having a working Opener in connection with Nuki. But honestly, buying a Nuki without an opener is not useful, at least for me. Now I can leave the house without keys and unlock myself with Ring. Given that the Nuki team doesn’t even want to answer if there is anything new about it, even though we all know they are reading this, this is a better solution for only €50.

Thanks a lot.
Technically:
Urmet uses a ±50V system, that the opener cannot support as is (at least from a software point of view?). That is a major blocker for the Opener.
Secondly, ruler requires the user to ring the bell before it would allow to open the door. So even if opener could support 50V, it could not unlock without ringing.

That is what I gathered from multiple threads in these forums.
However, it is quite disappointing that Nuki does not feel obliged to answer customer questions and feedback. Customer loyalty is hard to build, easy to destroy.
As far as I’m concerned, I will not trust the brand any longer and change my Nuki systems for another brand (in my case one adhering to Thread, Matter and Apple keys).
