Hi! Firmware version 4.6.4 (and 4.7.0 does not fix it) introduced a bug with the battery indicator.

My deivce is a Nuki 4 no pro.

Fresh new or fully charged rechargeable batteries drop from 100% to 21% within 2–3 hours. If you force a reboot by removing the batteries, the app shows 100% again for another 2–3 hours before it drops back to 21%. Red led is blinking.

If you check the actual battery level, you can see that the measured voltage does not match the reported battery percentage. For example, 5.5V corresponds to four rechargeable batteries at aprox 100%.

I’ve also tested with brand new non-rechargeable batteries, and the same issue occurs.

Hi! Any ideas about this battery issue? Why Nuki thinks the batteries are almost empty but voltage is full?? The flashing red led will drain the batteries quite fast, and this is not very reliable.

Should I contact support? I am using betta firmware.

Thanks.

  1. Make sure that you have the battery type set to “rechargeable” and not automatic in the Smart Locks settings.
  2. If you are using custom rechargeable batteries, make sure that they are all good. If there is one weak or dead battery in there, the Smart Lock might run into a low battery state when lots of power is needed, e.g. while it is pulling the latch. For security purposes it stays in critical battery state afterwards (until you pull the batteries and restart it).

Thanks JĂĽrgen.

  1. Tested with brand new AA batteries and same result.
  2. Is this a new feature? this started to happen with the latest 4.6x fw.
  3. Sent (but it is no online).

Kind regards!

With the latest firmware, I was able to fix the issue I had with the sudden battery drain.

This latest firmware was showing “motor blocked” when trying to unlock the latch — it was reaching the end position too early. I disassembled the Nuki and turned the key one additional rotation. After that and recalibrating it, it’s now working without any problems.
