Smart-lock 3 need a new cilinder?

When I bought my Smart-lock 2, I had to change my cylinder, because I otherwise would not be able to open the door with my key (the cylinder should allow a key beeing used from the outside while a key was also in the lock from the inside).
Am I correct that the smart-lock 3 no longer allows this? While going through the installation check, I see that I need to change my cylinder once again…
Why is this necessary?

The cylinder requirements did not change from Smart Lock 2.0 to 3.0. If you already have a Smart Lock 2.0 you can simply take it off and plug the Smart Lock 3.0 on to the same mounting plate.
