Hi all, I’m new around here. Thanks for creating this forum. It’s going to be great to receive your support!
I founded CareFree Smart Homes, where we have a particular focus on enhancing independence for disabled people.
Now, the reason I setup the business is because I’m aware of the capabilities of tech, but I’m by no means an expert in locks or coding, or the ‘how’ some of the tech works.
I’ve been asked to propose a solution for a residential property. Being residential, I’m hoping to propose a cylinder lock (we’re stockists of Ultion Nuki), opposed a strike lock or magnetic lock, which would usually be used as the door is going to have a motorised swing arm.
Do magnetic and/or strike locks manage a certain weight of door that a cylinder couldn’t handle? Hence I should scrap this idea.
I’m here to ask, ultimately, if there’s a way in which I can get a motorised swing arm to communicate with a nuki so that once the door is fully unlocked, there’s a 1-2 second pause and then the swing arm opens the door. Then once the door closes the lock activates again.
I’m going to propose using the Hubitat C8 and an echo border router in the setup and the property will have internet. Is there an approach we can take with a nuki lock here? I’m trying to provide the most robust, failsafe options that are very, very unlikely to fail as (of course) it’s for someone that needs it rather than a ‘nice to have’.
Thanks all,
JP
