Hello,
We install various locking solutions on a daily basis and we’d like to share with you a problem we’re encountering with the deployment of the Nuki system for European cylinders in France for short-term rental.
The problem is due to the opening methods.
The Keypad :
1.0 The short-term rental market in our region and more widely in France is represented by a large number of condominium flats. The regulations in France are very strict and only in very few specific cases do they authorise the installation of a keypad on the common walls of the building (on the doorstep of the flat). Co-proprietors must respect visual harmonisation in the residence’s corridors. For information, we have the same problem when a customer wishes to have a new handle or key box installed at the entrance to their home. joint propert or building Manager can immediately remove any object that has not been approved in advance. In the majority of cases, the request is rejected.
Opening by IOS or Android application:
1.1 Accommodations that have a high turnover with short stays of 2 or 3 nights do not motivate the traveler to download the application for such a short period.
1.2 Also travelers have various things to plan during their vacation/stay. We think that it would be more judicious not to impose the download but to leave everyone free at the time of arrival to simply receive an SMS which contains an internet link hosted on a server, once clicked, the user finds themselves on a responsive interface with an opening button and access to the accommodation. It is not contradictory to encourage the user to download the application and use all the features via the IOS or Android app later during the stay.
It’s about ease and simplifying the first entry into the apartment/house.
Thank for your reading.
Best regards,
Thomas
