Any ideas to introduce thread support in addition of wifi and bluetooth ? Not to mention the huge benefit that thread makes for home automation !
For now it doesn’t.
But anyway, they don’t even want to add MQTT and you are asking for thread
We do not comment about planned features or our roadmap here in the forum. Our blog is the best source to follow official announcements: Nuki Blog - Smart Home News, smart access systems and security
MQTT support for SL3P has already been announced and will come “in 2023”. It’s in beta since some time too.
Maybe some people are just hesitating to buy your product because they are not sure how will the future affect their decision to buy now…
Many companies are not afraid to disclose their near future plans and this maybe encoruges potential customers to buy their products with less fear of making mistake…
Yale have announced a Thread module for their latest Assure lock range. I say this not to indicate that Yale are better but more to agree that it is an option worthy of consideration. I would be more interested in Matter support which could be done with the current Nuki bridge over WiFi.
What also might be related and of more use would be support for Apple’s ‘Home Key’ feature. (This is not HomeKit.)
For the beginning thread would be enough…
Thread would be perfect to match with Matter and HK guideline specs.
Probably there is a problem with thread with Nuki guys who looks like prefer matter over wifi…
Matter specifation for battery operated devices like nuki lock are thread and bluetooth communications. What does it meean for Nuki ? New version Nuki 4 or it can be accomodated in Nuki 3 pro ? Probably not because tread radio needs a specific chip ?! Any comment ?
Yes, please read my post from above (and the Nuki Blog). Whatever remains unanswered remains unanswered until something is posted in the blog (or in other official communication channels).
Btw. the Matter specification does not restrict battery driven devices to use Thread.
It does not restrict ? But strongly reccomend !!! I see what is your problem …
And Matter should also be a matter of this Developers forum and in fact also an important Communications channell …
Just my thoughts, nothing evil…
