I am not sure which section this should go in, so I will try here.
While looking for a smart lock for the front door, I decided to have a look to NUKI.
I wanted to check which version of Bluetooth was being used so I had a check on your website. I was very surprised to see that the the version 3 devices claimed BT spec 5, while the version 4.0 devices claim to use an extremely old and indeed deprecated version of the BT Spec. (v4.0)
My next step was to search the BT SIG website listing. I did manage to find the NUKI 3.0 Pro, which uses BT 5.2. BTW, you should put that on the specs page. There is a big difference between 5 and 5.2.
I was further surprised to find no listing at all for the NUKI 4.0, Pro or otherwise. However, if you are really using BT 4, then I guess that would make sense because the BT will not allow listing using a deprecated core spec.
It would be nice to have clarification on the BT core spec version because spec 4.0 has massive security holes and would be a deal killer.
As a side note, from someone who used to work for the BT SIG, don’t let them catch you selling unlisted products!
Looking forward to the clarification.
Since all answers to Patrick are censored and deleted by Nuki I asked now BT SIG to shed a bit of light into this topic. Its our right as customer to know which version is used.
Hello @Pablomax and welcome to the developer forum!
First off, thank you for pointing out that Smart Lock 4th Generation is not yet shown on BT Sig. As the 4th generation follows the same product design as the 3rd generation we are already in alignment to add the respective subsequent product information there.
Concerning your question regarding the BT versions supported let me clarify here:
Smart Lock 2 and 3rd generation support BLE 4.0 until and including 5.2
