Battery pack (1st gen) "refurb" with Eneloop pro?

Hi, I’m using a Smartlock Pro v3 (wifi) and my power pack only lasts a few days (I’ve got a second power pack for comparison which works OK, though it doesn’t last as long as it used to).

In my old “1st gen” power pack, I see that the included batteries are 4x AA 1.2v rechargeable NiMh : can I replace them with Eneloop Pro which seem to have about the same specs ?

Thanks for your help
Best regards

Hi Anthony,

i did this a year ago with my battery pack. Better use the the normal white eneloops. The black ones have high power support, but they have a higher self discharge.

My battery pack works great with this retrofit.

Best regards!

Hi Micha,
That’s good news, thanks for the advice regarding the “normal” white Eneloop vs “pro” black Eneloop
I will try this soon

Be careful with the charging. The charging electronics cut-off points are not adjusted for Eneloop batteries, which can result in not charging, not fully charging or not stopping to charge. This should not be dangerous and not harm the batteries, but i would certainly not permanently power such a modified power pack.

Hello Jurgen, I also changed the 2 years old exhausted batteries of my Nuki v3 battery pack with 4 new Panasonic Eneloop (white ones, not pro). Now I’m really satisfied of the battery endurance, but the batteries doesn’t charge inside Nuki: when I connect power usb cable the led does not flash but remains steady-on. I have to extract the Eneloop batteries and charge them separately. Is there any third party AA battery (with high capacity, possibly around 2500mAh) that can be charged inside Nuki? Maybe I have to insert the Eneloop Pro (black ones)?
Thanks a lot.

As mentioned above the charging electronics are not made for Eneloops therefore i can not comment on this. One thing to note is that the PowerPack will not charge as long as the batteries do not fall below a certain threshold (~80%). This is of course also valid for Eneloops and this threshold might be lower for them. So make sure that your Eneloops are quite empty before you try to charge them.
