Features
Currently, when the name of an account user is modified, the associated smart lock authorization name remains unchanged in the API response and Nuki Web UI, unless the authorization is deleted and recreated. We are requesting a feature to allow direct updates to the “name” field of smart lock authorizations via the API without needing to delete and reassign permissions. Ideally, the API could provide a method for updating the smart lock authorization name to reflect any changes made to the account user’s name.
Reason
In our organization, we regularly update user data for accuracy and consistency. Currently, without a way to update authorization names directly, we have to delete and recreate user permissions whenever a name format needs to be adjusted (e.g., capitalization). This process is impractical, as it disrupts users’ access and requires them to reauthorize within 24 hours. Allowing direct updates would ensure data consistency, save administrative time, and prevent access disruptions for our users.
Examples
- When a user’s name is updated to correct capitalization, we want the smart lock authorization to automatically reflect this change without deletion and recreation.
- For organizations that need to enforce name formatting standards, having the ability to update names directly without losing user access would greatly enhance operational efficiency and data accuracy.
- This feature would also help in scenarios where multiple users’ names need adjustments to maintain uniform formatting across platforms, without impacting their existing access permissions.
