NUKI SmartLock 2.0 Twist assist

Product name

NUKI SmartLock 2.0

Summary

Twist assist

Features

Assisted locking/unlocking when NUKI SmartLock 2.0 is operated manually via the knob by the user

Reason

The button operation doesn’t feel natural in everyday usage, but the manual operation is not convenient enough

Examples

When the user starts to twist the NUKI SmartLock 2.0 knob in either direction, the motor engages correspondingly and completes the desired action as follows:

  1. The door is unlocked > user engages twist in locking direction > motor completes locking
  2. The door is locked > user engages twist in unlocking direction > motor completes unlocking
  3. The door is unlocked > user engages twist in unlocking direction > motor pulls the latch

This feature has not been implemented on purpose because the Smart Lock can not distinguish between rotating the knob on the inside and locking with a key from the outside. Therefore it can become quite dangerous for someone who tries to unlock the door with a key from the outside when the Smart Locks motor engages and continues to rotate 720degrees.

Alrighty. Then feel free to close this thread . Maybe possible in a new version of the SmartLock in far future oc.
