the behaviour in the Apps hasn’t changed in that regards, WiFi is not required in order to setup Matter/remote access via thread.
You should be able to activate Matter and remote access on the Matter activation screen and then your Ultra should be available remotely via Thread (and WiFi will be disabled automatically). It may also be advantageous to activate WiFi as a backup solution in case the Matter Hub ever has issues.
Could you provide me a screenshot of your current Matter screen and check after a while if remote access is turned on there as well? it may take some time until it is registered correctly.
If the issue still persists I’d need to check out further details in your App logs which you can provide via Side Menu → Help → Contact customer support and then simply tell me the ticket number you receive!
It’s still a bit confusing, though. The app should not ask to enable WLAN for remote access when a Matter/Thread/NAT64 is possible and sufficient.
I thought that it was an issue with the app, because of the recent changes to the connection health screen and I set up my previous Ultra about a year ago.
There’s a user in the SmartThings Community forums with pretty much the same setup as me (Aeotec Smart Home Hub 2 with NAT64) who has to enable WLAN for remote access and I was wondering if the app is responsible for the confusion.
